Speaking of rejection...

A fellow writer, Rachel Dunlop,  has this to say on onee of Etherbooks writers community pages on facebook:

The way I look at it, whoever you are submitting to will get plenty of submissions that are great stories, well written. So they have to decide between them somehow. They will always judge your work in context with their other submissions. They will almost always be looking for a particular style, or subject matter. And if they are putting together an anthology, or a magazine, or even a roster of published novels, they will be concerned with the overall mix. It's like they are putting together an outfit - if you send them a red dress, but they've already got several red dresses and really need a pair of black boots to complete the outfit, you'll get rejected. Doesn't mean it wasn't a very lovely red dress.
